Our club's support of Canada Day is back (finally) with a fireworks show at Riverside Park on July 1, and a beer tent at Exhibition Park for the Guelph Games on July 1, 2 and 3. Rotary volunteers are needed for both events, details below.
FIREWORKS AT RIVERSIDE PARK
Since 1992, the Rotary Club of Guelph has partnered with the City of Guelph to celebrate Canada Day In The Park including the fireworks show at night. In both 2020 and 2021, Covid restrictions stopped all such community events, but this year the Canada Day fireworks are back, at Riverside Park, starting at 10pm. We'll raise funds by collecting donations at the park before the fireworks, from 9pm to 10pm.
Volunteers needed:
We need Rotarians and Friends to help us collect donations
Friday July 1st, from 9pm to 10pm at Riverside Park
Our club is proud to be operating the beer tent in conjunction with the event hosts of The Guelph Games at Exhibition Park, over the Canada Day long weekend, July 1, 2 and 3. We'll raise funds from our share of the beer tent profits.
Volunteers needed:
SMART SERVE CERTIFIED VOLUNTEERS
To take shifts in the beer tent during its operating hours
Several different time slots available, on July 1, 2 and 3

Jean was right behind this project, too, with her teacher's knowledge of how hunger impacts children's learning and wellbeing. Donate HERE.

As we work towards rejuvenating our club post-COVID, and also welcoming several new and younger members to active roles, our club is going Back To Basics in structuring ourselves under Rotary's Five Avenues of Service for the coming Rotary year 2022-2023. Each and every club member is important to us as we aim to boost our Service Above Self.
Watch a pre-recorded presentation about the Avenues of Service HERE, and most importantly, PLEASE SIGN UP HERE to rank your preferred Avenues of Service.
Not sure? Then choose Club Service and our Membership Committee will help you find your way as projects and sub-committees gradually emerge from each Avenue of Service. Perhaps your best role will be mentoring newer members by sharing our amazing history. Or helping the club in some other role. Our goal is for each club member to participate meaningfully in our amazing club, matched to their talents and time.

June is National Indigenous History Month, an opportunity to celebrate and learn about the rich history and heritage of Indigenous peoples in Canada. On Friday, June 17, our club's guest speaker will be Michael 'Cy' Cywink, an acclaimed Indigenous Cultural Arts Educator, Curator, Artist, Author, Muralist and Storyteller. He will present "Art and Artifacts of the Odawa Anishinabe." All welcome. Event details here.
You may also have heard about Cy through his remarkable projects since the 1980s in helping some 50 schools to create stunning Indigenous wall murals in their schools - the latest one being at Waverley Public School right here in Guelph. Through these projects, the students gain appreciation for First Nations culture and history while expressing their own artistic abilities and creating lasting memories for themselves and those who follow. The results are simply stunning, as you can see from this wonderful CTV story online HERE. Take a look!
The annual Rotary Guelph Duck Race is back in virtual format for 2022, and has once again chosen Food4Kids Guelph as their main beneficiary. Get your tickets now!
On behalf of the Rotary Club of Guelph-Wellington (the Monday Night club) and Letter M, we are thrilled to announce that tickets are now available online for the annual Got Duck race, an important community event and fundraiser for over 30 years.
For the second year in a row, proceeds will support Food4Kids Guelph, a local Rotary-inspired charity working to help combat children’s food insecurity within our community. With the impacts of COVID-19 and rising cost of food, the amazing work this charity is doing is more important now than ever! Get your tickets here.
This year, one lucky winner will receive the grand prize of $500/month of groceries for a full year! There are also eight early bird prizes being drawn weekly, increasing in value each week. Can you guess what they’re for? We’ll give you a hint – doing any home improvement this summer? These prizes will surely help you foot the bill…
This is a great way to support our community, and maybe take home some great prizes! Will you help us spread the word?
The more tickets we sell, the more we can give to help kids in our community access the healthy food they need and deserve. And the more tickets you buy, the more chances to win! We look forward to opening the flood gates!
In 2021, the Duck Race contributed $26,400 to Food4Kids Guelph. We are aiming to match or beat that number this year!
