Members who joined our club in the past 2-3 years had a hard time getting acquainted because it wasn't easy getting to know Rotary people and projects through online meetings. On November 21, 2022 these newish members attended a lovely Wine & Cheese IN PERSON to meet each other and several Rotary mentors. It was a great success!
Our friends and members from Intrigue Media graciously hosted our event at their wonderful new premises on Laird Road. Thank you, Intrigue!

Our Rotary Club was delighted to deliver this year's shopping to Adopt-A-Family 2022, with specially chosen gifts for 2 large families and 2 youth who are living independently. Liz Sandals (shown here) and Marguerite Campbell were our club's hard working Adopt-A-Family "elves" this year and we are grateful to them and the generosity of our club members who made donations.
Gaining a deeper understanding of our local community needs is of great importance to Rotary efforts.
You are warmly invited to attend an important online information session where two local experts will speak about the most pressing challenges facing Guelph Wellington at this unique time in history as our community recovers from the pandemic and adapts to a changed and changing world.
Mike Schreiner, a dedicated Rotarian and our Guelph MPP, will share the top issues from his perspective
Sarah Haanstra, the well-known and admired manager of Towards Common Ground, will share research findings for social and health issues in Guelph Wellington, and the potential impact of collective planning
This meeting is the start of a process to focus our community service efforts:
Step one is INFORMATION. Join this online session to listen and learn about the most acute needs in our community. Connect with other Rotarians who also care about community service.
Step two is PLANNING. Future sessions will consider how Rotary is responding to the most pressing community needs and how this could help guide our committee structures, project selections and grants. This process might occur within individual clubs, or perhaps we will find common ground to make a bigger community difference by clubs working together.
Step three is ACTION and getting things done through our Rotary "Service Above Self" to make a positive difference in our community.
We hope that you will join us on November 29th at 4:30pm (Zoom link below), as well as at future sessions.

On November 18, 2022, longstanding Rotarian Ab Moore (with Alice by his side, as always) was presented with Rotary International Foundation's so-called "double diamond" pin for reaching Level 2 in the Major Donor category for generous contributions to Rotary's work in the world.
Club president Andrew Johnson was delighted to present this award, to a standing ovation from club members for Ab and Alice.
Said Andrew, "On behalf of all members and former members of the club, we are grateful to Ab and Alice for their leadership in tangibly demonstrating just how important the foundation is, and in setting an example how, over a lifetime, one can do one's part to fund the organization."
For more information on how you and your families can be active participants in funding the RI Foundation, please speak to our club's Foundation Chair Nisha Chandran, or any senior member of the club or member of the board of directors.
This month, our club president Andrew and his wife Janet have each sadly lost a parent, and we send them our heartfelt condolences. Janet's dad passed away two weeks ago, and Andrew's birth mom passed away this week. We are keeping the Johnsons in our hearts at a difficult time for them.
Rotarians continually make a difference in the community, and here's one more example. Our club member Georgia Lavarini and her colleagues have arranged this FREE CHRISTMAS MOVIE opportunity for families, along with a food drive to benefit those who need a little help.
