On Wednesday, 18 March 2026, University of Guelph student entrepreneurs struck gold and took home first place in three out of four competition challenges at the Enactus Canada Central Canada Regional  Competition in Toronto, competing against 30 universities and colleges. As part of our Vocational Service, our Rotary club is a keen supporter of the Enactus Guelph club, and very proud of their accomplishments! These three projects will now advance to the national Enactus competition in Montreal in May.

Enactus is a global network of post-secondary students that aim to create positive change through entrepreneurship.

Here are the three University of Guelph projects that earned Gold in the 2026 Enactus Regionals:

  • Brewed Beauty - a skin care brand that transforms used coffee grounds into sustainable care products . Placed first in the Canadian Tire Sustainability Challenge.

  • ReduX  - a circular-economy project that diverts restaurant food scraps from landfill and converts them into safe, affordable livestock feed for local farms. Placed first in the Desjardins Community Engagement Challenge.

  • seQUESTer came out on top for the Enactus Canada Alumni Innovation & Impact challenge for their IGEM inspired lead filtration system for waterworks.

Beyond bragging rights, each team will receive $1,500 to further fund the projects.

Each project will compete in separate categories at the Enactus Canada national competition. Enactus Guelph as a whole will compete too. From there, winners will move onto the world competition in Brazil.

Says Prof. Ruben Burga: “Congratulations to all team members and thanks to Lang School of Business and Economics - University of Guelph and to the John F. Wood Centre for their support in this journey. We are going forward to compete in the Nationals in Montreal!”
