Most often, a new member is personally introduced to our club by another member. But sometimes, when you are new in town and you want to meet like-minded people and get involved in your new community, you find your way to Rotary and explore that option. After attending just two of our club meetings, Jennifer felt, and we felt, that she belonged here! Jennifer was formally inducted as a Rotarian on March 13, 2026. Welcome Jennifer!
Jennifer's smiling face arrived at our club meeting in December 2025. She instantly felt at home and we immediately knew she was a perfect fit. Here is a little background about Jennifer.
Jennifer was born in Jamaica and came to Canada in 1972. During her early years, she lived in Toronto, specifically East York. Later, she lived in Aurora, Newmarket, Gravenhurst, Bracebridge, and Peterborough.
She moved to Guelph in the fall of 2025 to be near her son and his family. She has two adult sons, both married and one adorable grandson in Guelph, close to a year old now.
Jennifer has a Certificate in Gerontology and a Bachelor of Social Work from Ryerson University, and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Victoria, BC.
Jennifer's professional working career has been in the fields of social work and criminal justice. She was a Probation and Parole Officer and was also a member of the Ontario Parole Board. In the social service field, she worked as an income support worker for the City of Toronto and the Municipality of Muskoka. Most recently, she worked for the Province of Ontario as a manager for the Ontario Disability Program.
Jennifer has always believed in service to others. She started at the age of 15 as a Candy Striper at the East General Hospital in Toronto. She was actively involved in the churches that she attended and the schools her children attended. While living in Muskoka, Jennifer served as a Board member for the local Children’s Aid Society.
Over the last few years, due to family responsibilities, she was not able to actively participate in community service, but is excited to become a Rotary member, and looks forward to being able to return to participating in community service.
Welcome to our club, Jennifer. We are so happy to have you here!
