Previous Friday, March 17th:
Rotary District Awards
Assistant District Governor Tracey Curtis gave special District Awards to Luise Del Rosario and Chris Vandergrift for their extraordinary service through Rotary. Read details and see photos HERE.
Secret 3K report and thanks
Ashley Burr, the volunteer race director of Guelph's first ever Secret 3K run/walk held on March 8th, 2023 was delighted to give feedback on the event and how it exceeded expectations, with Rotary's help. More details are HERE.
Longstanding Executive Director of 2nd Chance, Chris Baginski-Hansen, outlined the beginnings of 2nd Chance in the early 1980s and Rotary's role in that, and how she has seen the organization grow and adapt over her 32 years there (25 as ED). She was thrilled to acknowledge Rotarians who were involved at the very beginning including Bill Stevens and Randy Wilson, and then to also thank Randy Wilson and Reny Pietrobon for their continued, long service on the board of 2nd Chance (Reny with 35 years, and Randy a little longer). Bill, Randy and Reny were all present. It was interesting to hear how much the Internet and technology changed everything in job placements, and also that 2nd Chance now helps people of all ages and professions to find a suitable position - not just youngsters at the start of their working life. What an asset this organization is in Guelph!
