In 2027, the City of Guelph will celebrate its 200th birthday, and the whole community is being encouraged to get involved. The Rotary Clubs of Guelph are heeding the call, and on August 7, 2026, a joint-club meeting was well attended to launch “Rotary Guelph200”. The strategy is twofold:

  • To find a Legacy Project that will leave a Rotary imprint on Guelph for many years, and
  • For our clubs to seek Community Service opportunities to layer into existing events.

Over 50 ideas have already been put forward by Guelph Rotarians, and a steering committee with representatives from all four local clubs will help sort through them and lead our clubs towards a shortlist and final decision on the Legacy Project. Once chosen, an action committee will be formed to implement the project.

Community Service opportunities are already being discussed. For example, on December 31, 2026, our club's Rotary Sparkles in the Park and the City will likely use the opportunity to kick-off the Guelph200 celebrations, and on December 31, 2027, help wrap up the yearlong Guelph200 campaign.
