30 Aug. 2026 Rotary Duck Race Aug. 30, 2026 3:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. 🎟️ Tickets support Keep Kids Fed At Home (formerly Food4Kids Guelph) helping provide weekend food bags to local children experiencing food insecurity. 🏆 The 2026 campaign offers $22,000 in prizes, including: $6,000 in Zehrs gift certificates (grand prize) WestJet flights RONA gift certificate Cash prize Maple Leafs tickets Winery getaway Furniture and appliance prizes. 🦆 Only 7,500 tickets are printed, with proceeds benefiting the community. You can find ticket information and the prize list at: GotDuck.ca CALLING FOR VOLUNTEERS TO HELP WITH TEAR-DOWN Right after the Duck Race itself comes "tear-down". Everything related to the Duck Race has to be cleared up and removed, leaving the Duck Race area in Riverside Park in perfect condition. Club members from the Rotary Club of Guelph Wellington are all involved - collecting the ducks from the river, removing everything from the river, and general cleanup. They could use volunteer help in ‘de-tagging’ several thousand rubber duckies and sorting them into different containers. They rent some ducks and those go into a different bag. De-tagging is just the removal of the plastic label around each duck's neck. If you have nails, it is easy work, but if you don’t, a small pair of children’s scissors would help. It's not strenuous work, but any extra hands help. This would be from about 3:45pm to 5:30pm on the Sunday. Bring your own lawn chair.

23 Feb. 2027 Rotary Beginnings-Feb 23rd Feb. 23, 2027 ROTARY INTERNATIONAL BEGAN ON FEBRUARY 23, 1905 After setting up his law practice in Chicago, Paul P. Harris gathered several business associates to discuss the idea of forming an organization for local professionals. On 23 February 1905 Harris, Gustavus Loehr, Silvester Schiele, and Hiram Shorey gathered at Loehr’s office in Room 711 of the Unity Building in downtown Chicago. This was the first Rotary club meeting. Our 1.2 million-member organization started with the vision of one man—Paul P. Harris. The Chicago attorney formed one of the world’s first service organizations, the Rotary Club of Chicago, on 23 February 1905 as a place where professionals with diverse backgrounds could exchange ideas and form meaningful, lifelong friendships. Rotary’s name came from the group’s early practice of rotating meetings among the offices of each member. THE ROTARY CLUB OF GUELPH BEGAN ON FEBRUARY 23, 1920 On February 23, 1920, 25 Guelph businessmen held an organizational meeting to form a new Rotary Club. Under the leadership of Alex Stewart (a Guelph pharmacist), the club was officially chartered on April 9, 1920 at the Royal Canadian Cafe. Over the years, the RCOG met at different locations for the weekly meetings. Moves from one location to another were usually prompted by changes in membership numbers. The RCOG went on to sponsor the following nine clubs: Kitchener, 1922 Orangeville, 1936 Acton, 1947 Drayton, 1950 Georgetown, 1955 Fergus, 1966 Guelph Wellington, 1986 Guelph Trillium, 1995 Guelph South, 2003
